The Estate
The Talmard name appears in local wine records as far back as the seventeenth century. Paul Talmard passed the estate to his daughter Mallory and her husband Benjamin Gonçalves in 1997. They expanded the domaine substantially, and their son Marco joined the family business in 2020, extending the succession into another generation.
Vineyard
The estate farms Chardonnay across southern Burgundy, with vineyards in Uchizy, Chardonnay, Montbellet, Farges-lès-Mâcon, Tournus and Lugny. Yields are controlled, soils are worked, and the domaine limits pesticide use. Distinct village and climat bottlings include Mâcon-Uchizy, Mâcon-Montbellet La Bergerie and Mâcon-Lugny Les Genièvres.
Sustainability
The estate states that it limits pesticide use and works its soils. No current organic or biodynamic certification is claimed here.
Cellar & People
Talmard is a grower-bottler estate focused overwhelmingly on Chardonnay and the differences among its Mâconnais sites. The range moves from direct, regional Mâcon bottlings to named climat wines, with the family's emphasis on preserving fruit, minerality and the identity of each village.
