The Estate

Richard Desouche created Le P'tit Domaine in 2006 from a small first parcel and gradually assembled a compact estate around Varrains and Saumur-Champigny. The domaine focuses on Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc and remains intentionally small, with Richard working each parcel closely and favoring precision over scale.

Vineyard

The estate has grown to roughly 4.5 to 4.75 hectares, including old vines often 60 to 70 years of age across prized Saumur-Champigny terroirs. Vineyard work is certified organic, with no herbicides or pesticides and a parcel-by-parcel approach shaped by each site's needs.

Sustainability

Certified organic since 2013. No herbicides or pesticides; cellar inputs are kept to a minimum.

Cellar & People

Winemaking is deliberately low intervention, using native yeasts, gentle extraction and patient élevage. Depending on the cuvée, wines mature in stainless steel or seasoned barrels rather than being forced into a single recipe, with the goal of retaining fruit and the identity of each terroir.
