The Estate
The Sourdais family's Logis de la Bouchardière began growing vines in 1850. Serge Sourdais developed the estate through the 1960s to 1980s, and Bruno, representing the sixth generation, succeeded him in 1991. The family later incorporated Domaine de la Haute Olive, and a seventh generation joined the business in 2020.
Vineyard
The family's vineyards extend across Cravant-les-Côteaux, Chinon and Panzoult and total roughly 57 hectares. Most vines are on south-facing slopes, with an average age above 40 years and the oldest exceeding 80. Soils range from flinty clay-silica to clay-limestone and alluvial gravel, giving the domaine a broad palette of Chinon terroirs.
Sustainability
HVE certified from the 2019 harvest; 7 hectares have been farmed organically since the 2022 harvest.
Cellar & People
Cabernet Franc is the defining grape of the estate. Younger-vine wines are generally raised in tank, while old-vine cuvées may mature in barrels or large foudres. The distinctions among cuvées are driven primarily by soil type, vine age and site rather than by a single cellar formula.
