The Estate

The Metz family has cultivated vines in Alsace since the beginning of the eighteenth century. Marcellin Metz settled in Itterswiller in 1930 and made viticulture the family's main activity from 1936. His sons Gérard and René began bottling and selling the family's wines under their own name in 1966.

Vineyard

Domaine G. Metz farms about 18 hectares across the slopes of Itterswiller, Epfig, Nothalten, Heiligenstein and Mittelbergheim. The diversity of sites supports a broad Alsace range, from dry and mineral wines to richer, more aromatic and late-harvest styles.

Sustainability

The domaine states that it prioritizes products used in organic farming for foliar treatments. No estate-wide organic certification is claimed here.

Cellar & People

In the cellar, fermentations are slow and driven by indigenous yeasts, with gentle pressing and aging on full lees. The domaine's philosophy is to treat terroir, grape variety and climate as complementary elements, producing wines that range from Riesling and Pinot Blanc through Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir and regional specialties.
