The Estate
Didier Dagueneau built one of the Loire Valley's most singular estates around Sauvignon Blanc in Saint-Andelain. After Didier's death in 2008, his son Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau took over the domaine and has continued the family's exacting, terroir-first approach. The Centre-Loire growers' organization continues to list the estate in Saint-Andelain under Louis-Benjamin's direction.
Vineyard
The domaine became known for low-yield, highly precise vineyard work and an early commitment to biodynamic principles, including horse-drawn cultivation and avoidance of chemical treatments. Individual parcels and soil types are treated as distinct expressions rather than blended into a single house style.
Sustainability
Biodynamic and low-intervention vineyard practices are widely documented; the page does not claim a current certification status.
Cellar & People
The cellar was designed to minimize pumping and move wine gently by gravity. Extended lees contact and large-format oak, including demi-muids and other custom vessels, build texture without obscuring site character. The domaine's benchmark Sauvignon Blanc cuvées include Silex and Pur Sang, wines that helped redefine the ambitions of Pouilly-Fumé and Loire Sauvignon Blanc more broadly.
