The Estate
Clos Saint-Louis is a family domaine in Fixin whose history now spans five generations. Philippe Bernard took over the estate in 1995 and developed it with his wife Martine. Their daughter Virginie now works alongside Philippe in the vines and cellar, bringing a new generation's perspective to a domaine rooted in the northern Côte de Nuits.
Vineyard
The estate covers about 16 hectares and deliberately keeps its parcels close to the domaine. Holdings extend from Dijon through Marsannay and Fixin to Côte de Nuits-Villages and Gevrey-Chambertin. The family emphasizes mono-climat wines such as Fixin Entre Deux Velles and Fixin L'Olivier, using individual sites to show the differences in altitude, exposure and soil.
Sustainability
Terra Vitis certified sustainable. The domaine emphasizes maintaining biological balance and close, parcel-by-parcel vineyard work.
Cellar & People
Harvesting is manual. Red grapes are fully destemmed, followed by cold maceration and extraction adjusted to the tannin quality of each vintage. Élevage generally lasts 12 to 15 months in oak and is adapted by appellation and vintage; wines are bottled at the domaine and filtered only when necessary.
