The Estate
The Monmarthe family has lived in Ludes since 1737, building seven generations of independent winegrowing around the village. Today the house remains family-run and deeply tied to Ludes, combining long-established Champagne traditions with a contemporary emphasis on parcel expression and terroir.
Vineyard
The domaine farms about 17 hectares, with roughly 15 hectares in Ludes and additional Premier Cru holdings in nearby Taissy. These Montagne de Reims vineyards are rooted in chalk-rich soils and are used both for the family's timeless multi-vintage blends and for single-parcel terroir cuvées.
Sustainability
HVE certified. The estate describes its viticulture as reasoned and biodiversity-conscious.
Cellar & People
Monmarthe works across two complementary styles: traditional blended cuvées that preserve the house identity across harvests, and parcel-specific Champagnes built around one site, one grape variety, one vintage and a defined vinification. Historic chalk cellars provide long lees aging, while selected terroir wines may see oak and very low dosage.
